 Election system 

 · Number of polling stations: 41,000

 · Opening and closing time of polling stations

  -  6 am and 4 pm respectively

 · Number of registered voters: 37,000,000 (2020 elections)

 · Voter turnout: 70.00% (2020 parliamentary elections)

 · Voting age: 18 

 - Presidential: indirectly elected by parliament from among three vice presidents; the upper house, the lower house, and military members of the parliament each nominate one vice president

 - Parliamentary

   1. In the House of Nationalities (Amyotha Hluttaw), 168 members are elected by absolute majority vote in single-member constituencies and 56 members are appointed by the military. 

   2. In the House of Representatives (Pyithu Hluttaw), 330 members are elected by absolute majority vote in single-member constituencies and 110 members are appointed by the military.

 

 · Voting process

 · Advance voting 

   1. The voting process for inside constituency advanced voting is the same as in a polling station. 

   2. The ballots for the elections will be cast in the advance voting ballot box at each polling station. 

   3. On Election Day, the advance voting ballot box will be delivered to each polling station before 6 a.m. and counted at the polling station after closing.

 

 ·​ Outside constituency voting 

   1. For outside constituency advance voting, eligible voters may request to vote in advance. 

   2. The township sub-commission sends advance ballots and envelopes to the relevant institution or military unit. 

   3. The military commanders or department heads will collect the envelopes containing the advance votes, check the ward/village tract names and polling station numbers and send the envelopes back to the relevant township sub-commission. 

   4. Outside constituency advance voting is counted after the polling station closes.

 

 · Counting process

   1. Regular voting and inside constituency advance voting ballots will be counted and checked to make sure they are valid or invalid​ by polling station staff at each polling station. 

   2. Results forms are signed by six polling station members and at least four party agents and/or witnesses.  

   3. Results forms are sent from each polling station to the township sub-commissions. 

   4. Results are aggregated at the division level to scan and upload to the Union Election Commission’s results website, where they are accessible for review.
