In the summer of 2023, the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, as the initiator and leader, completed the electoral reform process for amending the Law on General Elections.
The CEC has been an active part of this process, in which it
presented about 50 recommendations, which include various aspects of election
administration, such as: the right to vote and its secrecy; conditional voting
and abroad; the appeal process; registration and de-registration of political
parties; certification of political entities for participation in elections;
composition of electoral bodies; preliminary results; the counting of ballots.
Members of the CEC and officials of the institution have
participated in all the meetings and numerous workshops organized by this
commission.
The last time the Law on General Elections underwent some changes
was in 2010, two years after the entry into force of the same law.
Currently, the CEC is in the final stage of preparing the by-laws that emerge as an obligation from the new law.
