A-WEB invites all member EMBs to identify, encourage, and endorse qualified candidates for the position of Secretary General, which is expected to be considered for appointment at the 7th General Assembly of A-WEB in Manila, Philippines, in October 2026. This application process opens from June 1, 2026.
As provided in the A-WEB Charter, the Secretariat — the permanent body of A-WEB located in the Republic of Korea — serves as the central administrative and coordinating institution of A-WEB. The Secretary General leads the Secretariat and plays a key role in advancing A-WEB’s mission, strengthening governance, and fostering international cooperation among member EMBs in close cooperation with the Chair and Vice-Chair of A-WEB.
The position requires a highly qualified individual of strong integrity and sound judgment, with demonstrated leadership and extensive experience in international engagement, institutional governance, and organizational management. The Secretary General is expected to represent A-WEB in international forums, oversee institutional and financial management, and support the implementation of decisions adopted by the General Assembly and the Executive Board.
The Secretary General should also ensure the stable and sustainable operation of the Secretariat through effective coordination with host-country stakeholders and relevant institutions in the Republic of Korea, contributing to the financial and administrative stability of the organization.
All A-WEB Members are entitled to identify, encourage, and put forward qualified candidates. Applicants must submit their applications to the Secretariat no later than Friday, 14 August 2026 (end of day), together with recommendation forms endorsed by at least three Executive Board Members and a letter of commitment.
