A-WEB to Host International Conference on Enhancing Practices and Innovations in Election Observation
Last updated 2025-06-23

The A-WEB Secretariat, in collaboration with the Jean Monnet Chair at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) and with support from the European Union, will host the International Conference on Enhancing Practices and Innovations in Election Observation on 11 July 2025 in Incheon, Republic of Korea.

This international conference will bring together leading scholars, practitioners, and election experts to explore practical improvements and innovative approaches in election observation. With rising challenges to electoral integrity and growing demand for more impactful observation efforts, the event will provide a platform for sharing comparative experiences, field-based insights, and forward-looking recommendations.

Featured Speakers:

  • Professor Junhan Lee, Incheon National University, Republic of Korea
  • Professor Régis Dandoy, Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador
  • Professor Christina Binder, Universität der Bundeswehr München, Germany
  • Professor Hiroyuki Urabe, Dokkyo University, Japan
The conference will address both country-specific experiences and systemic issues related to the practice of election observation, such as countering misinformation, building public trust, and enhancing the professionalism of observation missions. Special attention will be given to how international frameworks—like those developed by A-WEB—can evolve to produce more insightful, practical, and actionable recommendations for host countries.

By fostering dialogue between academia and electoral institutions, the event seeks to contribute to a more credible, transparent, and resilient global election observation community.
