A-WEB’s 2025 Mission Recognized by CNE Ecuador for the Depth of Its Findings and Contribution to the Institutionalization of Electoral Observation
Last updated 2025-06-23

As part of a collaborative initiative with the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Ecuador, the A-WEB Secretariat participated in the Validation Event on the Findings and Recommendations from the 2025 General Elections, held on June 11–12, 2025, in Quito.

A key highlight of the event was a special session led by A-WEB, where recommendations from nine election observation missions conducted between 2017 and 2025 were reviewed, categorized, and analyzed. The session offered valuable insights into how electoral authorities receive and act upon observer recommendations and gave the Secretariat an opportunity to reflect on its methodology and explore areas for refinement.

To enrich the dialogue, A-WEB invited two distinguished Heads of Mission to share their experiences:

Judge Fabiana Marín, Superior Court of Electoral Justice, Paraguay (2018 Mission)

Secretary General Yessica Clavijo, National Jury of Elections, Peru (2024 Mission)

Their firsthand reflections brought regional perspective and depth to the discussion.

In addition to the special session, Ina Kim, Deputy Director of Electoral Research & Observation, and Professor Régis Dandoy took part in the thematic panels on electoral processes and electoral communication, respectively, sharing selected findings from A-WEB’s 2025 mission with national and international experts.

A notable moment came when CNE formally recognized A-WEB's 2025 mission for the depth of its analysis and its contribution to the institutionalization of electoral observation in Ecuador.

A special note of appreciation goes to Professor Régis Dandoy, who has served as a political expert in eight out of A-WEB’s nine observation missions in Ecuador, continuously contributing his expertise and insight to A-WEB’s observation efforts.
