Secretary General’s Visit to Taiwan |

During
the briefing session, the CEC of Taiwan gave the delegation of the A-WEB
Secretariat a comprehensive presentation of Taiwan's voting and counting
systems. It also explained the background of the Constitutional Referendum as
well as the meaning and potential effect of the Referendum. In addition, the
delegation had a chance to ask many questions about the voting and counting
processes as well as election campaign finances.
On
voting day, the delegation visited several polling stations and observed the
entire process of voting. Then, at 4 pm, the poll workers began to prepare
their counting work. Again, the delegation observed that all counting processes
went smoothly. The delegation ended their observation mission in the evening by
visiting the Central Counting Center and Emergency Response Center.
During his visit to Taiwan, Mr. Jang discussed with Mr. Chin-yung Lee, Chairperson of the CEC, further cooperation as well as the CEC's role in A-WEB as a member of the Oversight and Audit Committee.
