 Election system 

 · Number of polling stations: 40,218

 · Opening and closing time of polling stations

  -  7 am and 5 pm respectively

 · Number of registered voters: 13,026,598 (2018 election)

 · Voter turnout: 80.75% (2018 referendum)

 · Voting age: 18

 - Presidential: majority vote through a two-round system. First-round candidates need 50% of the votes or 40% and 10 point advantage over the closest rival.

 - National Congress

   1. 15 members are elected through an open-list proportional representation system

   2. 116 members are elected by plurality vote in single-member constituencies 

   3. 6 members are elected by majority vote in multi-member constituencies. The six seats are for Ecuadorians living abroad, elected in three multi-member constituencies representing continents.

 

 · Voting process: Verify Voter Identification -> Receive Ballots -> Mark Ballots -> Cast Ballots

 · Counting process 

   1Manual Count in Polling Station: take each ballot out of the box one by one consecutively, and display it to the attending public witnesses.

   2. ​Once the counting records have reached the CPR, they are digitalized manually.

   3. All counting records are submitted to the competent PEB for final review. 

 

 · Time to take to announce voting results in the country: Within 25 days after closing of vote
