 Election system 

 · Number of polling stations: 80,155

 · Opening and closing time of polling stations

  -  7 am and 4 pm respectively

 · Number of registered voters: 23,161,440 (2015 election)

 · Voter turnout: 67.34% (2015 presidential election)

 · Voting age: 18 

 - Presidential: the plurality of votes, directly elected

 - National Assembly: Bulk of members elected from single-member constituencies by plurality through universal adult franchise elections; about 75 of all seats (25%) allocated by proportional representation for the representation of women 


 · Voting process: Verify an identification or a voters' card -> Receive a ballot paper -> Mark the paper -> Cast the ballot -> Dip the voter's finger into indelible ink

 

 · Counting process

   1. Count in the polling station and display it to the attending public witnesses.

   2. Copies of the results are posted outside the polling station and delivered to the returning officer.

   3. Returning officer summates the results submitted by the presiding officer and announces the final results in a public

   4. Retuning officer then submits the results to the National Electoral Commission of Tanzania (NEC) who publishes it in the government Gazette.
