 Election system

· Number of polling stations: 2,028

· Number of registered voters: 591,101(2014 election)

· Voter turnout: 84.60% (2014 general election)

· Voting age: 18 

Presidential: Alternative Vote system, allowing votes to be transferred from a low-polling candidate to other candidates

 - Parliamentary: Single nationwide constituency by open list proportional representation with an electoral threshold of 5%. Seats are allocated using the d'Hondt method.

 

· Voting process 

  1. After checking the voters’ identification, the clerk issues the ballot to the voter

  2. Voters sign next to their name on the list

  3. Voters enter the polling booth and mark on the ballot

  4. Put some indelible ink on the finger after voting

 

· Counting process

  1. The officer announces that the voting has ended and counting began.

  2. At the end of the counting and recording results, all the voting-related items are sealed and labeled. 

  3. Transport election items to a secure location.

  4. When the election commissioner collects the results of the ballot counting and sends the final results to the election committee, the National Results Tally officially announces and publishes the results
