ICT Capacity Building Training Program for the IEBC Officials Friday

June 2015 marked the end of a two week training program of 11 ICT specialists
from the Kenyan Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC). The team which was led by the director of ICT
department comprised of top level managers and IEBC regional ICT officers across
Kenya. The successful completion of the training
would also indicate
the beginning in the implementation process of an MOU signed on the 31st March 2015 between the IEBC and A-WEB towards the
enhancement of the electoral systems in Kenya. The
participants were taken through a detailed and customized program designed to
address priority key areas jointly identified as challenges in the electoral
ICT in Kenya. The training program, which was conducted in English, presented an
opportunity for the participants to engage with Electoral ICT experts on
specific topics of concern. Detailed discussions were also held throughout the training program
to mitigate through the electoral technology hiccups that occurred in
the Kenya electoral system in 2013 General Elections.
The program had a blend of interesting activities that included lectures on various ICT topics:Strategy Development, Setting ICT Goals in Alignment to Corporate Strategy, PRINCE2 Program, SQL, Enterprise Architecture, TCP/IP, L2 Switching and VLAN TRUNK, MPLS, Log Management and Automation, Linux Networking and File Management, APM in Web Servers and Virtual Hosts, Data Analysis, Business Intelligence, Mobile Application Development, Virtual Services and Cloud, Information Security, and Data Center Design. Through this partnership, A-WEB and the IEBC commit to put in their best efforts in order to achieve the shared goal of equipping the election
officials in Kenya for the successful administration of election in the present and future election
processes. |
