The Forum "Strengthening Electoral
Integrity" organized by the National Civil Registry (RNEC) of Colombia The National Civil Registry
(RNEC) of Colombia organized a pivotal event, the "Forum for Electoral Integrity," set to take
place at the Plazoleta de la Democracia on October 5, 2023. This significant gathering brought
together key stakeholders committed to safeguarding the integrity of electoral
processes. Attendees included
the Electoral Crimes Monitoring Commission; Oversight Bodies such as the Prosecutor's Office,
Comptroller's Office, Attorney's Office, and the Police;
as well as representatives from the Ministry
of the Interior, Ministry of Justice, political
parties, media, and risk analysts
of Colombia, and the Association of World Election
Bodies (A-WEB). The forum has fostered dialogue
among these diverse
participants, emphasizing the collective responsibility to monitor and address electoral crimes. By uniting efforts, the
event has sought to enhance the effectiveness of oversight mechanisms and strengthen the overall integrity of electoral systems
in Colombia.  During the
Forum, Dr. Seung Kim, Assistant Secretary General of A-WEB, presented the legal controls of elections from a
comparative perspective, titled "Electoral Controls during the Elections: Controls
exercised over Election Campaign."
