- A platform for exchanging information in the field of election management-

The Association of World Elections Bodies (A-WEB) manages an international election observation group comprising representatives from *six countries for the Territorial Elections in Colombia to be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023. In this election, approximately 14,000 public positions will be elected, including the Capital city mayor, Bogota, 32 governors, city council members, local council members, and regional assembly members.

The National Civil Registry (RNEC) and the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Colombia, which are A-WEB member organizations that manage these elections, have been preparing for the elections by training electoral stakeholders in various regions.

The A-WEB International Election Observation Mission comprises experts from across the globe. These multinational observers actively participate in the entire voting process, offering crucial recommendations for enhancements. A-WEB's International Election Observation Program, initiated in 2014, has evolved into a platform for exchanging cross-regional election management insights, involving over 400 election officials from 150 organizations.

In operating this observation program in Colombia, the A-WEB Secretariat has arranged a briefing session on the upcoming Colombian elections to improve the understanding of the members of the Mission.

Meanwhile, A-WEB, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, will conduct election management capacity-building training for election officials of the General Election Commission (GEC) of Mongolia, a member organization, on 23-26 October, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), a global partner organization. In Mongolia, recent revisions to the Party Law have fortified the role and authority of the GEC Mongolia. The training aims to equip officials to implement the revised law effectively.

The A-WEB Secretariat, the headquarters of the global network of EMBs worldwide, is located in Korea. It serves as a hub for exchanging knowledge and experiences among EMBs globally, positioning South Korea at the forefront of expertise sharing.
