The A-WEB 11th Executive Board (EB) meeting took place on 11th July 2023 in the vibrant city of Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. It was a significant occasion, being the first in-person Executive Board meeting since 2020. During this event, a total of 17 agenda items were thoughtfully discussed, approved, and reported upon.

The distinguished host of the meeting was the Colombia RNEC, serving as the Vice Chairperson. The gathering saw active participation from 13 EB members, two members of the Oversight & Audit Committee, and three observers, including the Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs) from Panama and Ecuador, alongside the esteemed partner organization, IFES.

Several crucial decisions were made during the meeting, among them being the inclusion of the Central Election Commission of Albania into the Oversight and Audit Committee. Additionally, the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Armenia and the National Office of Electoral Processes of Peru were warmly welcomed as new temporary A-WEB members.

Alongside the main plenary session, a trilateral A-WEB leadership meeting was organized on 10th July 2023. Chairperson Mr. Mosotho Moepya (Chairperson, South Africa IEC), Vice-Chair Mr. Alexander Vega Rocha (Registrar, Colombia RNEC), and Dr. In-sik Jang (Secretary General), engaged in insightful discussions to address current issues within the A-WEB community.

In conjunction with the meeting, the RNEC hosted an International Conference titled "A Global View on the Challenges of Regional Elections 2023." Esteemed electoral experts presented on various topics, including the electoral reform in Colombia, the effects of compulsory voting, and lessons and challenges for Latin American elections in 2023 and 2024.

Looking ahead, the 6th A-WEB General Assembly is scheduled to convene in Colombia in 2024, offering members an excellent opportunity to discuss the future of A-WEB as it embarks on its second decade. Additionally, the 12th EB Meeting is already slated for the first quarter of the coming year.
