The A-WEB Secretariat took part in the launching ceremony for the Summit for Electoral Democracy on 18 May 2022 (KST), which was convened with the opening remarks by Lorenzo Cordova, the President Councilor of the National Electoral Institute (INE) of Mexico.
The summit was held online around a major topic, Electoral Democracy, to discuss how to strengthen the process of election and to resolve some challenges that democracy has faced.
Seung Ryeol Kim, the advisor to Secretary General of A-WEB, said that electoral democracy now encounters some risks because of low voter turnout, the spread of fake news and extreme political polarization leading to electoral violence. “The A-WEB Secretariat is committed to the success of the event as well as to strengthening electoral democracy both at regional and global levels,” he added.

The A-WEB Secretariat will support the Summit for Electoral Democracy as a co-leader of the European regional forum.
