A-WEB delegation participated in the international conference on “Improving Electoral Legislation and Democratic Elections: Experience of Uzbekistan and International Practice" held in Bukhara city, Uzbekistan from November 16th to 17th.
A-WEB officials, together with other participants of the conference from the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan, UN, OSCE, IFES, and the Central Asian Regional Representative of Konrad Adenauer discussed the direction of improving electoral legislation of Uzbekistan, the global elections trends, and established the network with the world election related organizations.
The first session of the conference included the opening remarks by Gibyong Kim, Director General of A-WEB, and the participants shared views on further improvement of electoral legislation and law enforcement practice. the second session was dedicated to the importance of using ICT in the electoral processes.
On the second day of the conference, Taeryung Lee, Deputy Director of ICT Training Team of A-WEB, delivered the presentation on “Sharing Examples of ICT in Elections: A-WEB Projects & Korean Election System”. In addition, the First Deputy Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communication of the Republic of Uzbekistan informed about the joint project with A-WEB in 2017 for building the Unified Electronic Voters’ List in Tashkent and announced that this system will be extended to the whole country. |
