 Election system  

 · Number of polling stations: 17,226

 · Opening and closing time of polling stations 

  -  8 am and 4 pm respectively

 · Number of registered voters: 19,311,105 (2020 election)

 · Voter turnout: 66.27% (2020 presidential election)

 · Voting age: 20

 - Presidential: simple majority candidates are nominated by political party or citizen petition candidates must jointly register voters and select one pair of candidates.

 - Parliamentary 

    1. Legislators are elected in three different ways. 73 seats are district legislators elected by single-member districts. 34 seats are legislators-at-large seats, elected by party votes. The remaining 6 are indigenous legislators, elected by SNTV. 

   2. Female seats are reserved by the constitution and laws in Taiwan. In legislators at large elections: half of the seats shall be female. For local councilors: Out of every four elected officials in each electoral district, at least one must be female. female shares nearly 40% of seats in Parliament.

· Counting process

  1. Manual Count in Polling Station: take each ballot out of the box one by one consecutively, and display it to the attending public witnesses.

  2. After the township electoral operation centers receive the voter result from the polling stations, the data will be entered into a centralized computing system.

  3. The Counting and Information Center for Election provides real-time election results to the public.

  4. The public could check up-to-date polling counts through the CEC’s website on election Day

 

· Time to take to announce voting results in the country: about 7 hours. The final results are usually available within the same day of the election
