The President of the Republic shall issue a decision to suspend the sessions of the House and hold a referendum on the dissolution within no more than twenty days. If the voters agree by majority of valid votes, the President of the Republic shall issue the decision of dissolution, and call for new elections within no more than thirty days from the date of the stated decision. The new House shall convene within the ten days following the announcement of final the results.

Article 20: The Court of Cassation shall be responsible fordetermining the validity of membership in the People’s Assembly.
Any appeals shall be presented, along with statements and evidence, to the court, within thirty days of the announcement of the election result.
The court shall decide on the appeal within 90 days from itsreceipt.

DI maintained an in-country presence from December 2013 through early 2016 and organized comprehensive international missions to observe the constitutional referendum in January 2014, the presidential election in May 2015, and the House of Representatives elections from October to December 2015.

- Last Updated : 2016-12-05 The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) works in Egypt to provide long-term, non-partisan capacity development to electoral authorities and to increase public understanding of electoral processes and voter rights and responsibilities. IFES also works to provide targeted technical support for key election events through support to electoral authorities, and works with local authorities on supporting the electoral reform process. IFES has collaborated closely with the High Election Commission, the Presidential Election Commission, and various other government agencies to provide technical support to election events and processes, as well as to develop those authorities’ electoral administration capacity.
